Good Brakes and Safe Braking Tips:

Brake fail of a moving vehicle is a nightmare but it has less chances but Poor braking is quite a possibility and a major contributor to accidents.

What is involved in safe braking:

1   Good Tires
2   Good Brakes
3   Good Wheel Alignment

I like cover Good Brakes in detail: Components involved in Safe/Good Brakes:

1   Good Brake Pads/Shoes
2   Good Rotors/ Drums
3   Good Calipers/ Wheel Cylinders
4   Good Brake Booster without Vacuum Leak
5   Good Brake Master Cylinder
6   Good Brake Lines & proportionate valve
7   Good Brake Pedal without excessive play
8   Good ABS pump/motor assembly
9   Workable Breather Valves
10 Proper level of Brake Fluid of good quality
11 Proper release of air from brake master cylinder/caliper pistons/wheel cylinders and brake lines
12 Any amount of air bubbles in brake lines reduce braking capacity
13 A run out in rotors or drums also reduce braking capacity
14 If vehicle equipped with rear brake drums: Periodic cleaning and brake adjustment is necessary to                maintain good braking power
15  Proper lubrication of caliper pins and free of rust is utmost important for good braking (Very important         for front brakes)
16  Quality of Brake Pads material also makes big difference for proper braking and long-lasting brakes.

17   All vacuum lines, hydraulic lines, electrical wiring and devices and sensors, mechanical wires for hand brakes and all mechanical components involved must be in good working condition without any wear tear and rust etc.

These are most crucial factors involved in braking and proper functioning of ABS system is very important as well. If ABS warning light is ON, it means anti-lock brake system is non-functional and unsafe.

Regardless of Good Brakes and Good Tires, never under-estimate the Power of Safe Driving that includes safe speed and safe distance from front vehicles.

Note: This article is for general knowledge and not a proper procedure for repair and maintenance of braking system. For replacing any component please follow factory manual or third party service manuals. It is always advisable to utilize services of a Repair Shop.

Common Sense Driving in Winter Time

When it is DARK, it is common sense to turn headlights and tail lights on.
When it is COLD, it is common sense to turn heat on.
When it is HOT,    it is common sense to turn air condition on.
When it is WINDY, it is common sense to pull up the windows.
When it is SNOWING, it is common sense not to tail-gate.
When it is EMERGENCY, it is common sense take appropriate action

When there is no gas, go to nearest gas station
When there is no brakes, gear down as quickly as possible in steps
When there is no Engine Oil, stop the car and tow it.
When there is a flat tire, replace it.
When there is fire, don't panic and stop the car
When there is smell of gas, pull out the car and come out of car quickly

If it is WINTER, make sure radiator has coolant (anti-freeze) and not water.
If it is WINTER, make sure gas tank has extra gas for your trip.

If it is WINTER, DON'T BE FOOLED BY 4X4 VEHICLE THAT IT CAN STOP FASTER
THAN OTHER VEHICLES, SO BE EXTRA CAREFUL IN WINTER CONDITIONS
If it is WINTER, AND IT IF FREEZING COLD, ALWAYS BE CAREFUL FROM BLACK ICE.

BLACK ICE does not mean that it is Black in color. It is the transparent ice which is clear ice and you can see road through it. It is most dangerous and extremely slippery without much control on vehicle. Be careful while taking turns, bridges, shady areas, icy patch areas etc.

DRIVE SLOW, KEEP EXTRA DISTANCE, DRIVE SAFE AND RELIABLE VEHICLE
and ENJOY SAFE DRIVING. HEAVIER THE VEHICLE BETTER IS THE SAFETY.
IT TAKES FRACTION OF SECONDS TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT
BUT IT TAKES YEARS TO RECOVER FROM PAINS AND INJURIES
IF YOU LUCKY ENOUGH TO SURVIVE AN ACCIDENT.

LAST NIGHT AROUND 8 PM, I SAW TWO ACCIDENTS IN SURREY BC
ONE ON 132ND STREET AND 88 AVE (VERY BAD ACCIDENT)
SECOND ON KING GEORGE HWY AND 88 AVE WITHIN 20 MINUTES.
